Undistorting a distorted national economy : [typescript] ; 1989 Dec. 7 / Robert McC. Figg, Jr.

Discussion of the "thirty-nine percent" disadvantage paid prior to 1947 for goods shipped by the states of the West and the South, compared to the less expensive rates enjoyed in the Eastern states. Figg includes personal memories of the hardships of operating the state government, ca. 1933-1934, when he served in the S.C. General Assembly during the Great Depression; and results of reforms as discussed by Gov. Strom Thurmond at the 1950 Southern Governors' Conference.
